San Francisco Indian Summer Weddings

Indian summers in San Francisco start in mid-September and go through November. During this time temperatures reach as high as the 80’s and the sunsets are spectacular providing a natural romantic backdrop for a couple.

Below are examples of exciting uses of color during this time. Not only do these colors complement each other they also create a warm yet refreshingly cool feeling.

The orange and yellow colors add just the right amount of POP.

So, if the summer escapes you, it’s not too late to have your wedding during San Francisco’s Indian summer!

Playing with Color – Orange

I have had this desire to design with the color orange. It is one of those colors that can have a warm or bright effect depending what colors are partnered with orange. Here are a few ideas I found using the colors:

I love calla lilies and here they are in orange

Example of orange having a bright effect.

My favorite color purple partnered with orange is such a striking and festive combination. Take a look:

How about taking a cue from mother nature? I found this picture and oh my goodness the sky is incredible.

Colors from mother nature

Tune in next time when I will play with variations of purple my favorite color:)

Hotel Shattuck Plaza Bridal Salon

I worked with Laura Urbina at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza in Berkeley, CA to host the first Bridal Salon at the hotel. The event’s focus was to let brides and other event professionals know what the hotel has to offer as well as giving local event vendors an opportunity to showcase their products and services. Here is a list of vendors who showcased at the event:

The Wedding Party
National Gown Cleaners
Music Solutions DJ Services
Chisel-It Ice Sculpture
Oye Productions
Photolicious Booths
Chung Li Photography
Blue Water Rentals
Nancy Liu Chin Designs
Hartmann Studios
Twig & Fig
All Things Simple

The event started at 11am with champagne and appetizers passed by beautiful models dressed in wedding gowns by The Wedding Party. Hartmann Studios presented a lounge area where the guests felt comfortable. I loved the black, red, and white table display by Nancy Liu Chin Designs. My table was between Photolicious and Chisel-It, and I got a chance to meet a lot of brides because there was usually a crowd of people taking pictures at the photo booth. Did I mention the appetizers by Five Restaurant? Chef Banks, he out did himself!

As I walking and visiting each vendor booth, I heard comments from brides that they really enjoyed the event and loved the relaxed atmosphere.

The staff at the hotel is great and very responsive. This was the second event time I worked with the Hotel and each time it has been a simple process. I look forward to working them again in the very near future.

Year 2010 in Review

It is time to close out the year 2010 and what a year it was for All Things Simple! We had a spot on Red Carpet Bay Area featuring the Bay Bella Anniversary Gala event in June at the Hotel Shattuck in Berkeley, CA. The first Kiss the Curves fashion show in February, Fashion on the Square in August in San Francisco, The Trio launch in May at the Joyce Gordon Gallery, wedding in October at Scott’s Seafood Restaurant, and closed out the year with the Hotel Shattuck’s first Bridal Salon in November. These were just a few of the major highlights for the year. I had such a great time working on these events and look forward to many more events in 2011. As a matter of fact, Kiss the Curves Hollywood Kiss in Los Angeles is one of the events already on the calendar for March.

Technology fun – Web 2.0

I am having fun discovering the constantly changing world of technology. The whole idea of Web 2.0 is amazing. We are able to connect and make friends globally, find those long lost friends from high school and maybe grade school, and network with individuals all over the globe. I am learning so much and having such a good time exploring what Facebook, Twitter, Blackberry apps, and blogging all have to offer. I find myself getting so intertwined with what is new that I just lose time and before I know it 5 hours have gone by, I have not had a thing to eat and my eyes are glazed over from looking at my computer screen or my Blackberry screen.

My goal is to share interesting information I find whether it’s the cyberworld or the real world as well as providing a window to Tamiko and All Things Simple. I hope to provide tips that will be useful, interviews with various professionals who provide services for anything that can be tied to the wedding and event industry. These business owners will share their insight and views on upcoming trends as well as useful tips. I am also considering a question of the week in order to incorporate a two-way conversation.

So, I hope you all travel along with me on this tech journey as I apply it to weddings, special occasions, marketing, and several more of my favorite things.

Please feel free to share your comments and let’s make this a two conversation.

Thank you for stopping by:)
Tamiko

This is the beginning

Well, today I am writing my first post and to tell you the truth, it is most interesting. It’s like starting a mini website and I need to learn all the technical jargon. Good thing I am a quick study.

So, I do hope you all stay with me as I go down this path of blogging.

Let me tell you why I wanted to start a blog. I wanted to share my some of my favorite things. First, all things associated with planning parties and weddings. I love to see the latest trends, find out what colors to pull together and of course some of the great deals out there . Secondly, I love creating things, finding and playing with the latest gadget in the world of paper crafting. I have been creating stuff since I was probably 9 or 10 not too mention my mother has Martha Stewart tendancies. I started with crocheting and sewing clothes for my Barbie dolls. As I got older, I enjoyed making things for people from the annual christmas ornaments, to my now world of rubberstamping.

Okay, so this blog will become a way for me to share some of my favorite things. Oh yeah, did I mention my love for shoes (gotta love Carrie from Sex and the City), jewelry, kitchen gadgets, and wine?

Stay tuned to read about my latest discovery.

Tamiko
